Bad Branding

A lot of posts will tell you how to be a great brand.

But few talk about bad brands.

Here is a short story of how a bad brand image can haunt you.

I knew a guy, let's call him Bob.

Bob owned a double-glazing company.

When times were tight, Bob did leaflet drops.

He advertised glass and window replacement.

A week later, Bob followed up with part 2 of the campaign.

He employed local kids to visit businesses and put stones through the windows.

The results of Bob’s campaign

After a while, everyone caught on.

Bob was branding.

Then, by luck, Bob won the lottery.

Yes, really! £22 million lucky.

He continued in business and did a lot for friends and family.

He helped local charities.

The whole nine yards.

But he still kept his branding.

Stones through windows.

The Moral of the Story

The story's moral is to create your brand based on your values.

And not on the stones that fly about!

PS - Yes, this is a true story!
